ABOUT ALBUQUERQUE
ART
GROUP
Come along to our meetups to improve your art in a relaxed and social atmosphere, and under the guidance of a professional instructor. Complete beginners to experienced artists all welcome.

Our 2 hour meetups are held in a different location each time, usually outdoors.

Bring your own materials which can be anything from pencils or pastels, to watercolour or oils.

If you are a complete beginner all you need to start are a couple of good drawing pencils, a rubber, and a drawing pad.

Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to experienced artists. The instructor is there to help everyone.

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

It was great because it was just a small group of us and Naseem the instructor. She was wonderful. There, patient and helpful and provided great instruction and guidance. I would love to have another class or classes with her specifically in watercolor.

The instructor did a fabulous job of communicating the location and brought lots of supplies in case we forgot something. She is a very good teacher and nice person!

ARTISTS
Naseem Shahrivar
Naseem Shahrivar is an Albuquerque based artist, who recently moved to New Mexico from the Midwest to escape the harsh winters of Minnesota. Naseem has lived her life with a passion for art and attended COE College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, attaining a BA in Fine Arts.
Ms. Shahrivar's main focus is in painting, alternating from acrylic paints to watercolor paints depending on the subject or the mood. She has experience in landscape and floral paintings, portraits, and murals.

Naseem Shahrivar is available for private bookings

Available most Saturdays and Sundays from 1pm until 6pm.
Private tutoring in acrylic painting, watercolor painting, or drawing.

Title or Location: Under the Sea
Interesting enough, this picture of a Sea Turtle was given to me about 5 years ago, from my good friend, while I was living in Colorado. She had taken the photo of a sea turtle while she had been on vacation in Belize. It was just a sea turtle, and I just filled in the rest. Funny, I had tried many, many times to do this picture before, and I could never get it right. I also have many other paintings, as well as Charcoal paintings too

This piece was created on an antique ledger logbook page. Using Prisma colored pencils and Micron pen. The piece measures 12 1/4 ? 16 1/2 inches. I found inspiration for this piece through the wildlife of New Mexico. The roadrunner being the state bird and a neighbor to many that live in New Mexico. I painted this recently from a photo I took during a Friends Weekend several years ago. We stopped our bicycles on the bridge and snapped a few photos. The icy cold water was a brilliant blue from the mineral content. The Pine River flows into Vallecito Lake near Bayfield and Durango.

In this painting I wanted to convey the intensity of the fox's stare - that something has caught his eye and he is standing perfectly still watching it! I am always intrigued with how light hits a subject - this is why I love using oil paints as you can get such a depth of colour (I layer up the colours) and then the last few brushstrokes are the highlights and that is when the magic happens!

This is Lucy, one of our favorite family dogs. She is the sweetest pooch and loves to ride in the car, windows opened. She is in her glory as her ears catch the wind and almost smiles. I tried to capture her wonderful nature in this watercolor painting. I used very heavy pigment to give detail to her fur. I so love the many styles watercolor allows you to create. It is one of my favorite paintings because, I Love Lucy:)

Title or Location: Adventure Awaits
This scene is from an early morning boat ride in New Hampshire - we had been here a couple of times over the last few years. It was so quiet and the water so still . The early morning fog had not lifted and people were still not stirring. I snapped a photo when I saw this scene with the colorful leaves framing the waiting boats. I knew I would paint this one day. It?s a 24 x 30 gallery wrapped oil painting. It can be seen at the Elizabethan Gallery.
